Are You Considering Your Options About
Senior Living Communities?
Moving into a senior living community is one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make because it’s both highly personal and often fraught with uncertainty. That’s where Neighborly Senior Placement can help because we partner with all of them throughout California. During our initial phone call with the family or the senior, we’ll discuss topics such as your specific care needs, determine which particular geographical locations you’re most interested in living, explore what’s most important when looking for your potential senior living community, and review ways you can pay for it.
In addition, we’ll coordinate, schedule, and meet you for tours of the communities that we recommend, and personally introduce you to their teams. Because our team has decades of industry experience and resides within the areas they serve – we are in position to leverage these connections to benefit you or your loved one!
Once we’ve found the right community, we’ll assist you with facilitating the move-in process, and be with you every step of the way. Finally, we become a lifelong resource advocating for our clients.
Best of all, our services are absolutely free to seniors and their families. See FAQs for more information.
Senior Living Community Options
Independent Living
For those individuals who lead a fairly active and independent lifestyle. It includes having access to a robust social life, being able to enjoy a variety of social and recreational activities with like-minded people, as well as being in charge of your personal care, dining options, and living space.
Assisted Living
For older adults who may be physically unable to live independently. Staff is available 24/7 to help with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), from toileting, bathing assistance and medication management, to scheduling doctor appointments and transportation. These seniors typically have their own living space, such as a private or semi-private apartment, while also having access to supplemental care.
Memory Care
For individuals who are experiencing a decline in their cognitive abilities due to Alzheimer’s or Dementia. Proven therapies of compassion and patience can enhance their quality of life, maintain their dignity, and offer some independence in a secure environment. Services typically include bathing, dressing, housekeeping, transportation to appointments, medication management, and access to support groups.
Skilled Nursing Care
If an older adult has a serious physical condition that requires more intensive care, a Skilled Nursing community, also known as an in-patient rehabilitation and medical treatment center, can be an option. These facilities provide the services of Licensed Nurses, Occupational/Physical Therapists, and Speech Pathologists. Often, this is temporary care to recover from a heart attack, stroke, operation, or broken bones from a fall.
Continuing Care Retirement Communities
An “all-in-one” approach to the level of care one may need over time. For example, most aging adults start in Independent Living, gradually transition into Assisted Living, and eventually may move to Skilled Nursing Care and/or Memory Care. This continuum of care offers the ultimate peace of mind; however, it’s generally the most expensive care.
Board & Care Home
This broadly used term refers to nonmedical community-based residential settings that house two or more unrelated adults with or without disabilities. These homes provide services such as medication supervision or reminders, meals, organized activities, transportation, and assistance with bathing, dressing, and ADLs.
Localized California Realtors
If you should need to sell your current property, we will introduce you to one of the Northern California-based Realtors on our team to maximize its value. They have years of experience in working with clients who have been in similar situations and will have many suggestions to help you downsize before you move.
Dedicated Movers
We have an affiliation with a local moving company that provides a high level of service. They can help you move without stress and provide all the packing materials you may need for a smooth transition.
