Where You Can Find Me This Fall: Bay Area Senior Events & Community Connections

A big part of my work happens outside of the office. We spend a lot of time in the community meeting families, connecting with senior-care professionals, learning about local resources, and staying involved in the conversations that matter to older adults and the people who care for them.

This fall, I’ll be taking part in several events across Contra Costa County, the East Bay, the Tri-Valley, and San Francisco. Some are focused on dementia education, some bring local resources together in one place, and others support causes that are closely connected to the families I work with every day. If you’re attending any of them, please come say hello.
September 26: 17th Annual Senior Symposium
I’ll be participating in the 17th Annual Senior Symposium in Lafayette. This year’s theme is “Understanding Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Mild Cognitive Impairment: Tools for the Future.” The morning will bring together families, caregivers, professionals, and community members for practical education around dementia and planning ahead.
Topics include the newest research, lifestyle habits that support brain health, and financial planning. Featured speakers include Bruce L. Miller, M.D., Linda Fodrini-Johnson, M.A., and George Nocetti.
Dementia and memory-care questions come up often in my work. I like events like this because families can learn, ask questions, and connect with local resources before they are trying to make decisions in the middle of a crisis.
October 8: Concord Health Expo
I’ll also be at the Concord Health Expo at the Concord Senior Center. This free community event brings together local healthcare providers, nonprofits, and senior-service organizations, making it easy for older adults and families to learn about several resources in one morning.
Attendees can find information on Medicare, transportation, assisted living, wellness services, and other local programs. There will also be free health and wellness services, and Concord residents age 65 and older can arrange a free shuttle ride through the city’s Transportation Office.
Concord is right in the heart of the area I serve, so I’m especially glad to be part of this event. If you have questions about independent living, assisted living, memory care, or residential care homes, stop by and talk with me.
October 17: Walk to End Alzheimer’s, East Bay
On Saturday, October 17, I’ll be joining other senior-care colleagues from around the East Bay and Tri-Valley for the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer’s, East Bay, at Bishop Ranch in San Ramon.
The walk brings together families, caregivers, healthcare professionals, senior-care providers, and community members who have all been touched by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. I’m looking forward to walking alongside colleagues I work with in the area while supporting Alzheimer’s awareness, education, research, and the families affected by dementia.
October 23: Sensational Seniors Gratitude Gathering
I’ll be participating in the Sensational Seniors Gratitude Gathering in Berkeley, a community event for older adults and families to connect with local resources, wellness services, educational programs, and senior-focused organizations.
The morning will include community booths, giveaways, demonstrations, mini workshops, raffle prizes, refreshments, and plenty of opportunities to meet local professionals. I appreciate gatherings like this because they make senior resources easier to find and less intimidating to navigate.
I especially like that this event gives families a chance to learn before they are in the middle of a crisis. Sometimes simply knowing what resources are available, and who to call, can make a future transition much easier.
October 24: Walk to End Alzheimer’s, San Francisco
The next day, the Neighborly Senior Placement team will be walking together at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in San Francisco, and we’ll be bringing our family and friends with us.
This one feels especially personal. In our work, we regularly meet families who are navigating dementia diagnoses, changing care needs, memory-care decisions, and the emotional side of finding a new home for someone they love. Walking together as a team, with the people closest to us, is a meaningful way to stand with the families we serve and support a cause that touches so much of the work we do.
December 2: Recover with Resilience: Your Path Forward After a Setback
I’ll wrap up this group of events with Recover with Resilience, and this one is a little different because I’ll be one of the presenters. I’ll be speaking alongside two other local professionals about what recovery can look like after an illness, injury, hospitalization, or other setback.
I’ll be sharing the senior-living side of that transition: what families may need to think about when returning home is no longer the safest or most realistic option, what other care settings may be available, and how to start planning without feeling overwhelmed. The workshop will also focus on practical ways to rebuild confidence, manage change, and move forward after a setback.
Why Staying Involved Locally Matters
I live and work in the East Bay, and knowing the local senior-care market is a big part of how I help families. I’m regularly in touch with senior living communities, residential care homes, hospital and rehabilitation professionals, social workers, case managers, home-care providers, hospice teams, and other senior-service professionals throughout the area.
Being present at community events helps me stay connected to what is happening in Walnut Creek, Concord, Pleasant Hill, Lafayette, Danville, San Ramon, the Tri-Valley, and the greater Bay Area. It also helps me keep building relationships with the people and organizations families may need before, during, or after a senior-living transition.
If you’re coming to any of these events, please come introduce yourself. Whether you’re a family member, caregiver, healthcare professional, or simply trying to learn more about local senior resources, I’m always happy to connect.
If your family is beginning to consider independent living, assisted living, memory care, or a residential care home, I’m always happy to be a resource.
